LOL Guaranteed: A Shot in the Dark (1964)

“I believe everything and I believe nothing. I suspect everyone and I suspect no one.”

Overview

In honor of turning 50 this year, we thought it fitting to highlight an often overlooked comedy gem from 1964, A Shot in the Dark. Not only does it star the incredible genius Peter Sellers in his Inspector Clouseau role, it marks the rare occasion where the sequel is definitely better than its predecessor, The Pink Panther. If your only exposure to this character was the Steve Martin version from 2006 or you only saw the first iteration from 1963, please give this movie a try. It is the best movie of the Pink Panther series, bar none. We guarantee it will bring many smiles to your face after a long day at the office.

What Makes This a 5-Star Film?

A Shot in the Dark has guaranteed laughs consistently from beginning to end. Even if you don’t typically enjoy slapstick humor, you won’t be able to stop laughing during this movie. Sellers is in perfect form the entire time, taking his character seriously in the sense that Clouseau genuinely believes in everything he does and says. With his over-the-top French accent and ending up in the most implausible of circumstances, you will find this film a total joy. We can’t wait to see it again and that means it’s a true comedy classic.
